How do I apply for access to the NDIS?

To apply to the NDIS, the first thing to do is check if you meet the eligibility requirements. Head over to the NDIS eligibility tool HERE to find out if you are eligible.

When you’re confident that you meet the eligibility requirements, there are several ways you can apply to the NDIS.

Access Decision

Understanding your eligibility outcome

Once the NDIA makes a decision about your eligibility to access the NDIS they will send you a letter notifying you of the outcome.

There is a Participant Service Guarantee that outlines how long the decision should take.

If you are eligible to receive funding through the NDIS, the next steps will be to have a planning meeting. The NDIA will contact you to arrange this.

If you are found to be ineligible you can still access services in your community and your Local Area Coordinator can help you with those.

You can find your Local Area Coordinator here.

If your situations change in the future, you can make a new access request to be re-assessed.

Your guide to NDIS funding and support

Eligibility, funding, and getting started made simple

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to eligible people living with a disability or permanent cognitive impairment.

What is covered under the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) makes decisions about whether someone is eligible to become an NDIS participant. If someone is deemed eligible, the NDIA will then decide how much funding they will receive.

Disabilities covered by NDIS

The NDIS covers and provides support for a wide range of disabilities.

What is a NDIS plan?

A NDIS plan outlines your goals and the supports that may help you achieve those goals while living your life as independently as possible.

How to manage your NDIS funding

There are three different ways to manage your NDIS funding.

How does NDIS funding work?

NDIS funding is designed to cover the reasonable and necessary supports you need to manage your disability and work towards your goals.

What does the NDIS fund?

The NDIS funds a variety of supports and services that can include personal care, mobility aids, therapy, home modifications, and help with community participation.

How to switch NDIS providers

To switch NDIS providers, you must locate your service agreement then follow 3-step simple steps.
